Installing the MPC Touch Audio/MIDI, Touch Panel, and DisplayLink drivers
When the drivers have been removed from your computer and you have rebooted, you are ready to reinstall the drivers for the MPC Touch. The section below will walk you through the process of installing the drivers for the MPC Touch onto your computer.
MPC Touch Audio/MIDI and Touch Panel drivers
- Download the MPC Software installer from your Akai Pro account (currently at version 2.2.1)
- Run the MPC Software installer and select the MPC Touch in the menu
- Install the Audio/MIDI driver and reboot your computer when prompted
- Install the Touch Panel driver and reboot your computer when prompted
- When both of these drivers have been installed successfully, a green check mark will replace the red down-pointed arrow next to the driver in the installer application

MPC Touch DisplayLink driver
- Run DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for macOS 5.0.dmg
- Run DisplayLink Software Installer.pkg, allow the install process to complete and reboot your computer when prompted
- If you are using macOS Mojave 10.14, do not use the Display Driver installer found in the MPC Software installer - it is important to use the installer you downloaded from DisplayLink to install the version of the driver intended for the Mojave operating system (DisplayLink driver 5.0)
Enabling Drivers in Security & Privacy Settings
All driver supported products on macOS Mojave will now require the user to allow the system extension in the Security & Privacy System Preferences. After installing the driver, the following pop-up will appear to report that the driver extension has been blocked:
To enable the extension and allow the driver, navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Restart the computer first if this is necessary to complete the driver installation. Under the General tab, look for the 'System software from developer [driver developer] was blocked from loading.' indication:
Click Allow. Follow the prompts to restart the computer if necessary and the device will be recognized normally on startup. It will only be necessary to complete this process once.
MPC Touch Screen Configuration
When all the drivers have been installed and allowed for use with your computer, the final step is to configure the MPC Touch's screen for use with the MPC Software. The section below will walk you through the process of configuring the MPC Touch's screen.
- Run the MPC Software installer and select the MPC Touch
- Select Configure screen and follow the prompts in the application
- If you see your computer's desktop on the MPC Touch's screen, disable display mirroring on your computer by following these steps:
- Open System Preferences
- Select Displays
- Select Arrangement
- Uncheck Mirror Displays
This knowledge base article will provide additional display troubleshooting steps:
After completing the steps above, your MPC Touch is ready to be used as a controller for the MPC Software. Run the MPC Software and the MPC Touch's TUI will be shown on the hardware's display. Enjoy using your MPC!
What if I am receiving a message indicating that too many MPCs are connected to my computer?
If the MPC Software indicates that there are too many MPCs connected to the computer, create a new MIDI configuration in Audio MIDI Setup.
To open Audio MIDI Setup, navigate to the following directory:
- Finder > Applications > Utilities
- Open Audio MIDI Setup
- Select Window at the top of your computer's display and choose Show MIDI Studio
- Select the Configuration field, select New Configuration, and give a name to the new configuration
- Close Audio MIDI Setup
- Run the MPC Software
